AI-Driven Financial Resilience Labs for ESG and Financial Services

Project Summary

This project will develop hands-on, industry-informed teaching labs that help students build practical skills for careers in financial services. Focusing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), climate risk, and data-driven decision-making, the labs will enable students to work with real-world datasets and apply AI techniques to address real-world financial challenges. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, including Cykube, and in engagement with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the project will incorporate real regulatory scenarios and data environments, such as the FCA Digital Sandbox. Importantly, the project builds on prior successful research in AI-driven ESG analytics, translating proven approaches into accessible and scalable learning experiences. The labs will be embedded into a new MSc programme and shared across the UKFin+ network, supporting wider adoption and helping develop a future workforce equipped with the skills needed to navigate sustainability and financial risk challenges. The project will also generate reusable teaching resources that can be shared across the UKFin+ network, extending its impact beyond a single institution. By bridging academic learning with real-world financial and regulatory practice, the project helps prepare graduates to address emerging challenges in sustainability, risk, and responsible AI in financial services.
