Workshop: Game-Changing Technology in FinTech

We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who joined us for Game-Changing Technology in FinTech. It was a fantastic day filled with insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and great company.

A special thank you to our speakers and panellists for sharing their expertise, as well as to all who contributed to the engaging conversations. Events like these wouldn’t be the same without such a brilliant audience 👏

Our speakers were:
👉 William Knottenbelt (Imperial College London) introduced the event
👉 Jasper De Maere (Outlier Ventures) explained the evolution of Outlier’s technology convergence thesis focused on Blockchain and AI, culminating in a vision of a Post-Web future
👉 Zhipeng Wang (Imperial College London) went into detail about the convergence of blockchain technology with AI and the implications of quantum computing for blockchain
👉 Sharu Theresa Jose (University of Birmingham) gave a masterful exposition of Quantum Computing and Quantum Machine learning and its related challenges

Our panellists were:
Rob Price (Futuria.ai)
Maryam Fayaz-Torshizi (DeepSearch Labs)
Pinar Emirdag (7RIDGE)
Jack Jacquier (Imperial College London)

The panel explored the new business models and processes enabled by emerging technologies, the kinds of data models needed to support technological convergence, and how relationships between technologies like AI and Quantum computing can be bi-directional: for example, AI and machine learning algorithms may be executed more efficiently by quantum computers, but quantum computers and quantum algorithms may also be better designed using AI.

The afternoon workshop session chaired by Aad van Moorsel explored the convergence of AI, Blockchain and Quantum Computing in more depth. In the coming weeks we will be sharing insights from the workshop.

We look forward to seeing you at the next one!
